Scottsdale, Ariz. (March 2011)
– Massage Envy, the pioneer and national leader of affordable and
convenient massage and spa services, announced today the opening
of its 300th spa. The company introduced its Massage Envy Spa®
concept in late 2009 and has opened or converted a record 300 spa
locations in 37 states. This has resulted in a total of 663
Massage Envy and Massage Envy Spa locations nationwide.
“Opening our 300th spa location represents a significant milestone
for Massage Envy Spa, as we have far surpassed our growth
expectations for the concept thus far,” said Massage Envy CEO
David Humphrey.
“It is a true testament not only to the power of the Massage Envy
brand, but that our franchisees and their customers realize the
value we bring in providing affordable and accessible massage
therapy and skincare treatments.”
Through a strategic partnership with global skincare leader Murad®
and as a member of the International SPA Association -- the
largest spa industry association in the world, the Massage Envy
Spa concept is gaining national acclaim. The company launched the
spa concept to build upon consumer’s desire for inexpensive,
healthy skin care beyond traditional massage therapy. With Murad,
Massage Envy Spa customers benefit from facials and skin care
treatments designed by one of the world’s foremost leaders in skin
health. Administered by professionally licensed estheticians,
Massage Envy Spa facials and skin treatments begin at $49 to $69
for first-time guests.
The 300th Massage Envy Spa is a new center located in the San
Carlos Village shopping center at 8784 Navajo Road, San Diego. It
is owned by Doug Busse, who became a Massage Envy franchisee in
2007, after he visited a Massage Envy as a customer and decided to
invest in the concept.
“We were delighted to learn that our new center was the 300th
Massage Envy Spa. I had no idea that in less than two years, the
number of spa locations had grown so significantly,” said Busse.
“We are excited with the steady flow of customers at the center
and the location couldn’t be better in a high traffic area with LA
Fitness and Starbucks as our neighbors.”
Massage Envy experienced record growth in 2010 with 43 new
locations and 166 spa location conversions. Today, the company has
more than 660 Massage Envy and Massage Envy Spa locations in the
United States, making it the largest system of franchise massage
centers in the industry. More than 961,000 members belong to
Massage Envy.
“As we continue to expand Massage Envy Spa’s reach from coast to
coast, we look forward to offering consumers the ability to take
charge of their own health and wellness through our convenient,
affordable and professional spa and massage services,” added
Humphrey.
The company plans to continue to expand its presence in markets
across the U.S., as well as throughout Canada. To fuel this
growth, the company is looking for specific franchisee candidates
who have the ability and the desire to learn and follow a system
that ensures value and customer satisfaction.
Qualified franchise candidates should have business sales or
management experience, but do not need to have a massage therapy
or spa operations background. They also should possess a minimum
net worth of $500,000 and liquid assets of at least $150,000.
Massage Envy and Massage Envy
Spa franchisees can expect their
initial investment to range from approximately $318,000 to
$512,000. This includes the franchisee fee of $45,000.
